Swansea 2-1 Man Utd: Pathetic Red devils implode at last [Match report + Videos]

Swansea City did it before, they did it again, Louis Van Gaal and his team lost at home for the first time this season to some resilient team play from a far more organized Gary Monk side at Old Trafford.

Manchester United started the encounter brighter, Juan Mata missed a gilt edged chance from close range having been left unmarked and Memphis Depay had his free kick saved by Lukas Fabianski, it took time before Swansea woke up from their slumber, and when they did, they rattled the hosts.

Bafetimbi Gomis had two clear chances, first he dragged an effort wide before leaving the United defense in six and sevens with a clever move that had its end result cannoned off the upright. Juan Mata again fired wide when he should have done better as the half ended goalless.

Whatever it was that Louis Van Gaal told his wards at halftime seemed to have paid off after Juan Mata made up for his misses with a near post finish off a Luke Shaw layoff which was only United's second real goal of the season.

Just when it was looking like the hosts were on the ascendancy, Andrew Ayew headed in his third header of the season after being perfectly picked by Gylfi Sigurðsson.

United launched forward in search of lead restoration and Depay almost found it but for some good Swansea defending, disaster struck on the counter, goal scorer turned to provider, Dede Ayew spotted Gomis on the run and the French forward beat Romero in the United goal from a tight angle.

United threw everything forward in search of parity, but Swansea stood firm, Wayne Rooney had the best of chances, one on one with the Swansea Goalie but he wasted his acres of space to allow Ashley Williams catch up and rid him of the ball to keep the scores 1:2 and hand the Welsh club another win at Old Trafford for consecutive seasons.
