A father-of-three fulfilled his dying wish and married his childhood sweetheart just days before he died of cancer.
Paul Walker, 32, had only been diagnosed with oesophageal cancer 11 days earlier after doctors initially suspected his stomach pains were caused by gallstones or pancreatitis.
But he and partner Sarah were devastated when a CT scan revealed the cause of his illness and doctors said he had only weeks to live.
'In my head I knew time was slipping away and I wanted to make memories for the kids,' said Mrs Walker, also 32.
'The staff were amazing, they got a cake sorted and even said they would get a dress for me, but that wasn't important to me and I actually got married in a pair of Nike flip flops.
'While we were in that room everything was normal for a few hours and everyone was smiling.
'The nurses and everyone left us alone for our wedding night. Even though Paul was in the bed and I was on the floor, it was lovely because it was just the two of us.'
Mr Walker, from Kirby, first started complaining of stomach-ache in May and went to hospital for tests.
But doctors were unable to get a camera down his throat to inspect his stomach, so he was asked to return as an outpatient in a few weeks.
